Vacation Wines - Number Seven - 2001 Chateau Fombrauge

I had the urge for a Bordeaux wine this night, and shame on me, the only Bx I had brought for three weeks on-our-on-the-road-tour was this bottle. But it turned out fine.
What am I going to do if this urge comes back...? :-)

2001 Chateau Fombrauge
A fine, open nose with notes of warm plums, red liquorice, sun warm tiles, a bonfire in a distance and sone Christmas spices. Very, very good. Some charcoal scents after a few hours. In a very fine middle stage of its maturity.
The taste is medium bodied and almost mature with notes of dried blueberries, plums, bakelite and warm gravel. Some sandy tannins in the medium long finish. Cool and very good. A touch of wood in the after finish. Drinking good tonight, and should keep this way for 5+ years.
90p   (tasted 2016/07)
